Welcome Jen Townsend - New Executive Director

Jen Townsend, the new executive director of the Leeward Y, is a familiar face to many island-wide YMCA members and volunteers. 

She started as a teen fitness coordinator/weight room instructor back in 1998 and women's start up fitness coordinator in 1999 at the Nuuanu YMCA, and through her hard work and innovation, was appointed the associate healthy lifestyles director. In 2003, she was promoted to head the Healthy Lifestyles Department at the Central Y and two years later, became the associate executive director.  Her proven success at these branches led her to the Atherton YMCA as the executive director, and most recently, the executive director of the Mililani Y, where she expanded youth programming for the surrounding communities.

We congratulate Jen on her biggest move yet and know she will be a great leader at one of the largest YMCAs on Oahu.  Congratulations Jen!

About the Leeward YMCA

The Leeward YMCA is located in the heart of Waipahu and serves the community of all cultures and ages.. The facility is in close proximity to the Waipahu Transit Center, Filipino Community Center, elderly housing, and the Waipahu Public Library. With its groundbreaking renovation in 2004, the newly constructed facility of the YMCA replaces its old facility, which is located on a property of the historic Oahu sugar mill. The Leeward YMCA is built with the sustainable efforts from community organizations and donors.
